We are beginning to and in many cases have already lost the stories and
memories of those glorious Austin radio days that only those who "were there"
can relate. To preserve as many memories as possible, we must act now!
The purpose of Austin Radio Memories is to provide a clearinghouse for those
who would like to share and preserve their personal Austin Radio Memories for
future generations.
Our mission is to provide a repository for those memories, to collect the
stories, and eventually, compile them into book form for everyone to enjoy.
Our ultimate goal is for the book to be published and made available via major
booksellers, such as Amazon.com.
NOTE: All profits from the book will be donated, through known reputable
organizations, for scholarships to qualified individuals who want to pursue a
career in Radio Broadcasting and/or a nationally recognized reputable charity
or charities.
If you worked in Austin Radio any time during the 1950s to the 1980s, we want
to hear from
you! These years will be the initial focus of the book.
To find out how to share your memories fill out the form at the bottom
of this webpage.
If necessary, you can record your story and e-mail the audio file(s) to the
e-mail address we will provide you via the form below. Memories on
cassette tape, CD, or other media will need to be mailed to an address
provided via the form at the bottom of this webpage.
Audio memories will be transcribed. All memories will be edited for
readability. You will have the option to approve any editing changes
prior to publication. Submission of material will not guarantee
publication.
We are also looking for photographs of personalities, facilities, events, etc.
associated with Austin radio. If you do not have access to a scanner, we
will scan the items for you.
